Research study
A research study was conducted to compare the effects of consuming watermelon versus an low fat cookie snack for four weeks on body weight, blood pressure, blood glucose, insulin concentrations, bio markers for inflammation , stress and liver function. The study revealed that the body weight increased in low fat cookie trial and decreased in watermelon, post prandial glucose and insulin were not significantly different between two snacks. Four week of watermelon consumption resulted in improved blood lipid profile.
