Discover the Surprising Exercise That Has Virat Kohli Hooked

Virat Kohli, the former leader of India’s national cricket squad, follows a fitness routine focused on enhancing muscle flexibility and endurance. Despite common misconceptions, Kohli prioritizes lower-body development, which fuels his unique playing style and contributes to his success on and off the field.

Kohli’s Approach to fitness

Kohli demonstrates unwavering commitment to his physical wellbeing by engaging in rigorous gym sessions five to six times a week. His training goes beyond cricket-specific skills, transforming him into an all-around super-athlete. Kohli’s fitness blueprint encompasses a holistic view of health and wellness. It encompasses various components of his physicality, ultimately unsettling his competitors on the pitch. His routine includes resistance workouts, Olympic-style weightlifting, cardiovascular exercises, and a wide range of physical activities

Kohli’s workout routine

Prior to each session, Kohli ensures a thorough warm-up, typically starting with a 20-minute run at a speed of 15 km/hour. He incorporates compound exercises into his routine, engaging multiple muscle groups simultaneously. Regular exercises such as deadlifts, squats, and lunges with twists contribute to his overall fitness.

Kohli follows a high-intensity five-day workout plan, followed by a two-day rest period. During the off-season, he focuses on augmenting muscle mass and strengthening his back, legs, and core, as reported by various news sources.

In addition to weightlifting and cardio exercises, Kohli practices yoga to improve flexibility, balance, and focus. To boost endurance, he includes aerobic exercises like running and cycling in his program. Kohli’s dedication and discipline enable him to maintain his peak condition and perform at a high level.

Kohli’s Approach to diet

Less commonly known is Kohli’s preference for a quasi-vegetarian diet. This dietary pattern allows occasional consumption of fish, seafood, or poultry. Kohli’s diet is rich in protein, incorporating eggs, lentils, quinoa, vegetables, and spinach to prevent vitamin deficiencies. For breakfast, he usually chooses a three-egg-white omelet with peanut butter spread on whole grain bread. Lunch often consists of chicken with spinach, while dinner options range from soup and salad to stir-fried vegetables.

In a recent interview with Star Sports, when asked how he maintains control over his habits and fitness, Kohli provided insights into his approach.

“so for me now it’s a question of less is more when you’re figuring out your your fitness journey you’re trying to figure out all sorts of things vitamins extra hydration proteins this that to a point where you figure out okay this this is what works for me this is the right balance and then just I mean repetition is is everything. so the basic challenge that I felt in terms of Fitness is food because everyone can kind of you can go to the gym and work hard there’s no there’s no preference as such in terms of you know what I don’t like to lift the dumbbell like this for biceps you have to do it that way if you if you want the muscle to grow but with food it’s very different because you have taste buds and it’s it’s linked to your your own you know mind wanting something and not wanting something so if you can persevere there that’s something I figured out quite early I can eat the same thing for the next six months like three times a day I have no issues at all what is the thing what is the last thing you stuck onto at the Khanna it’s working for me and doing a lot I know eight times I think during one of the IPL season or something someone was telling me if your heart is going to eat big chicken and veggies or something yeah if I have to put it in a better way it’s about how the food is prepared okay. so right now I’m in a stage where I eat so just to give you an example in the last two and a half months I would have eaten something which is slightly fried maybe Thrice and that’s all slightly slightly nothing deep fried and 90% of my food is all steamed boiled no masala . salt and pepper lime that’s all that’s how I eat I’m not I’m not a big fanatic on taste twists salads I’ll enjoy with a bit of dressing every now and then pan grilled with a bit of olive oil . Kohli Loves barbel clean & jerk

One key addition to Virat Kohli’s robust training program is the Barbell Clean and Jerk exercise. This compound movement, often used in Olympic weightlifting, serves as a testament to Kohli’s dedication to versatile and comprehensive fitness. The Barbell Clean and Jerk involves multiple muscle groups and demands both strength and coordination. It starts with the barbell on the ground, and the lifter has to clean it to the shoulders in one swift movement, and then jerk it overhead, fully extending the arms. This exercise not only builds powerful lower and upper body muscles but also significantly improves functional strength, power, and agility, traits crucial for a cricketer like Kohli. The technique plays a vital role in enhancing his explosive strength, enabling him to hit those high-velocity shots and maintain agile fielding abilities on the cricket pitch.
